Aerosmith Settles Class Action Lawsuit Over Cancelled Show

The rock band Aerosmith has agreed to a settlement in a class action lawsuit filed against the band after they pulled out of a gig in Maui. The lawsuit was filed by all those who had purchased tickets for the show.

The lawsuit alleged that the cancellation cost Maui ticket buyers between $500,000 and $3,000,000 in ticket fees, travel costs, and other expenses.

As a result of the settlement, the band will play a free gig in Maui for all those that had originally purchased tickets, as well as reimburse them for all out of pocket expenses related with attending the show.

Class Certified in Action Against Starbucks

A United States District Court in Florida certified the class, in a class action lawsuit, brought by Starbucks’ Managers. Once a class is certified, the case can proceed as a class action lawsuit.

The lawsuit was brought by the managers alleging that from January 15, 2006 to today Starbucks failed to pay overtime wages as required by federal fair wage laws.

Starbucks is no stranger to labor law lawsuits. Last year, the coffee giant was ordered to pay an estimated $100 million in wages to baristas. The tips were compensation for lost wages illegally shared with managers and supervisors.

New York City Subject of Class Action Lawsuit Over Broken Elevators

The City of New York is the subject of the class action lawsuit. The class is comprised of disabled residents of public housing. The suit alleges that the City’s failure to repair some 3,000 elevators in public housing violates the Americans With Disabilities Act.

The suit complains that the City’s failure to maintain the elevators makes it impossible for them to leave their homes. The City has countered, arguing that it is continuing to repair and inspect the elevators at public housing throughout the city.

According to a report released by the Manahttan Borough President’s Office, 75% of elevators in public housing failed inspection.
